vessel, gu, and carved with flanges and
taotie masks; the flat plaque carved as a
chime, qing, suspending a bat.

A GREY JADE ‘CHILONG CUP’
Ming Dynasty 812
Of flaring form, set on a ribbed flaring foot,
carved to the exterior with three sinuous
chilong clambering up the sides, with the
heads resting on the rim, incised seal mark to
base. The cup 10.2cm (4in) diam.
