AN EMBELLISHED JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
THE BOTTLE, 1750-1850; EMBELLISHMENT JAPANESE, TSUDA FAMILY,
KYOTO, 1920-1940
The pale-grey jade bottle is embellished with soapstone, enamel,
lacquer and gilt, on one side with a gilded vase of fowers, a fnger-
citron branch and ‘antiques’, and on the other side with a fowering
branch with two butterfies above.

The tapering ovoid body has a bold ‘thumbprint’ pattern inclusion in
the richly colored stone on one side.
