Wang Xisan, 1968, the bottle: 1780-1880
The handsome bottle of tall rectangular form
with rounded corners, standing on an oval
foot ring, the interior painted in subdued
colors with a continuous snowy landscape,
detailed with tiny figures, one side dated
wushen dong yue (winter month in 1968),
signed Wang Xisan, with one seal Wang.

The present bottle is another exceptional
example of Wang Xisan’s work from his early
years. The chosen smoky crystal marvelously
matches the painted theme, adding a
magical effect in creating a hazy, gloomy
atmosphere in a winter scene.

Of elongated tapering ovoid from, the interior
painted with eight hounds in various poses
near a gnarled pine tree in a continuous
landscape dotted with flowers and
vegetation, one side titled Ba Quan Tu (Eight
Hounds), dated dingwei (1967), signed Wang
Xisan, with one seal reading Xisan.
