Of standard Haritsu form with flat inrobuta (flush-fitting lid) and curved
chiri-i (“dust-rest”) edges, the ground of plain wood with exaggerated grain
brought up by rubbing with hot sand or ash, the top and sides with applied
ceramic, shell, and pre-formed elements of high-relief maki-e, depicting an
anchor, assorted shellfish, and seaweed, the side with applied seal Kan
