Nothing can take away from the grandeur of it all though. Northern Minnesota is mostly flat
with hardly a hill or ridge line to rise in the sky so it felt like Big Sky Country. When it was
mostly sunny like today the hue of blue was so acute it simply had to be a photo shopped pic-
ture and yet here it was, in living color.
Later in the spring and during summer people would describe this area as vivid verdant from
the bulrushes and wild rice growing higher than a man standing in a boat and they would not
see what I did. In fact they would complain of narrow paths pushed thru tall grasses and water-
ways chocked with growth.
