In the Morning there was a part of me that just
wanted to stay where I was because the camp

                                                            site itself was so inviting.

But a new part of me was awakening that really
wanted to get going, almost anxiously.

I had my campfire last night so the hiker/camper

in me was satisfied but the river kayaker felt
                                                            more a virgin than ever.

Most of my kayaking in two or three days had

been walking. That wasn’t what I came for.

                                                            I wanted the river.

I admit I didn’t know what to expect but this
wasn’t what I was lead to believe so my morning

                                                            wasn’t grumpy, just perfunctory.

And of course I still had to load the kayaks again
                                                            and get going…..

Most of my gear wasn’t exactly what you
call kosher to backpackers or standard for

         outfitters.

I used things from home as much as possible
like Zip Lock bags and kitchen utensils. I

did this on purpose because while I wanted
to save money, I wanted to prove it could be
done by everyday people who might just

take the kitchen sink because they can’t af-
         ford a “camp kit.”

I called it Po’Boy after my knack for impro-

         vising common household items.
