There is a comfort to building a fire.
I didn’t need a fire. I didn’t cook on the fire. I wasn’t cold enough to require a fire. There was
supplied wood. There was a fire ring. I had my hatchet and starter fluid.
So I had a fire.
I know I was supposed to be a Davey Crockett kind of guy, but when I want a fire and I want it
to start …..I use lighter fluid.
It was relaxing as all fires usually are, but this was surreal with everything provided for and not
a soul in sight. My plans were to spend every night on the River because I really wanted to
make this one giant ever lovin long distance camp out with kayaking thrown in on the side.
Others I knew planned on cities and places to visit……
My first real camp site I had everything I could have wanted for the entire Mississippi river
right here at Wanagan. I was happy.
You could have called me a happy camper.
