Because I resisted clocks and time keeping, I was retraining myself back to sunrise and sun-
sets, I had no idea really when I awoke. But I could tell I was getting back to the camp life I so
enjoyed which was early rise and exploring. Come back later and eat.
Before settling into writing and to do kayak duties, I decided to explore this site.
My introduction to these DNR
Canoe sites was less than im-
pressive as I discovered the
landing sites maybe nice or
maybe in winter functional, but
to me these were just “butt ug-
ly” and only stupid would step
on it.
Later on I would prove to be
stupid and lose a pear of rub-
bers in a bog like this one.
I have no idea why I got such
a kick out of these signs but I
have to admit later in my trav-
els, if I saw or used the site I
always felt an adrenaline rush
seeing the sign sometimes far
off in the distance. Once or
twice knocked down and lay-
ing on the ground. Still, by
myself, this was a welcome.
With a vivid imagination like
mine I never regretted seeing
so much this early and vistas
open before me that would be
covered later. I wanted to see
what was behind the “spring
makeover” that lie hidden in
summer and spring.
