WANAGAN Cloudy/Sunny
Two nights at Wanagan made me jealous for camping, but I was getting anxious after record-
ing in my journal the animals I had seen so far. I even started a Critter Count, Bird Count,
Plant Count, Tree Count and silly things to consume part of my day writing. I knew I would
never keep track everyday but for one day it was fun to be an explorer and writing chronicles
in honor of Lewis & Clark whom I realized was someone else I had not read but should.
No, I kept eyeing the maps and partial straight aways in front of me. Others may have wanted
to “get somewhere” I just wanted to “be” on the river. A real river, not a shallow creek of a riv-
er but a genuine “float my boat” kind of river. And just before arriving at Wanagan, the creek
seemed to be rising or at least I was getting to some deeper parts that maybe I could finally
paddle.
3 days in to this journey and I am sure if I had been using an App, my paddle speed would be
in the negative.
I was more than ready for all the hype of the Mississippi to now become a River and looking
to set out this morning at the water ahead…,
I FULLY EXPECTED TO BE PADDLING THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AT LONG LAST.
