WALKING INSTEAD OF PADDLING YOUR FEET WILL GET WET
While that sounds obvious, unless you’re a dedicated hiker with long history of walking moun-
tain streams or live in Minnesota year round, sooner or later your feet will get wet. Though I
had waders, though I had calf high rubbers, one pair of neoprene socks, one pair of kayak
shoes, one pair of water sock shoes, a pair if scuba socks. I just couldn’t keep my feet dry if
my life depended on it.
It was easier to be barefoot in the kayak and put on which ever shoe I needed then get out, then
actually wear shoes in the kayak. One reason is I sat cross legged. The other is I could dry my
feet in the kayak instead of wearing any wet/dry gear.
Low water, bushes, branches, rocks, sand, gravel…..eventually my feet started to take some
hits from the River and in the cold water they did not heal.
