HOME On the rock of Ages founded,
395 Father of everlasting grace, What can shake your sure repose?
With salvation's walls surrounded,

Your goodness and your truth we praise, Verse 2
Your goodness and your truth we prove; See! the streams of living waters,
Springing from eternal love,
You have, in honour of your son Well supply your sons and daughters,
The gift unspeakable sent down, And all fear of want remove;

Who can faint, while such a river
Verse 2 Ever flows their thirst to assuage?
Send us the spirit of your Son, Grace, which, like the Lord, the giver,
To make the depths of Godhead known, Never fails from age to age. 2/3

Send him the sprinkled blood to apply, Send him Saviour, if of Zion's city
our souls to sanctify, I, through grace, a member am, Let the world

Verse 3 Fading is the worldling's pleasure,
So shall we pray, and never cease, All his boasted pomp and show;
So shall we thankfully confess Solid joys and lasting treasure
Your wisdom, truth, and power, and love; None but Zion's children know. 3/3

Till, added to that heavenly choir, God, our fathers' God;
We raise our songs of triumph higher, Thou hast kept Thy pilgrim people
And praise you in a bolder strain,
by the strength of Thy staff and rod; Thou hast
Out-soar the first-born seraph's flight, called us to the journey which faithless feet
And sing, with all our friends in light, ne'er trod;
Return
