Rehabilitation
School Partner: East Meadow High School
This program focused on the concept of "a day
in the life of a rehab patient." Students had an
opportunity to experience all the activities a
patient would need to go through during physical
rehabilitation. They also explored the various
careers available in rehab.
Syosset Hospital
School Partner: W.C. Mepham High School
This program took the students on a journey
with the patient and medical staff. Students
experienced a patient’s point of view from the
time of injury to the time of recovery, and all the
professional roles that are part of the process.
Talent Acquisition
School Partner: Stella K. Abraham School
In a sea of thousands of applicants, how do you
find candidates who embody the Northwell Health
mission? From attracting, vetting, and hiring new Zucker Hillside Hospital
staff, students learned how Talent Acquisition
plays an integral part in identifying top candidates
who are "Made for this."
Telehealth Program
School Partner: Glen Cove High School
Students took a tour of the Telehealth Command
Center, learning about numerous careers in this
innovative discipline. They also participated in
simulation of a telepsychiatry consult, learning
how technology is leveraged in hospitals to
improve care.

for Medical Research
School Partner: Valley Stream North High School
Tomorrow’s medical breakthroughs are happening
today at the Feinstein Institute for Medical
Research. Students explored the excitement and
innovation of research careers. They received a
tour of the new bioelectronic medicine labs and
learned how Northwell Health is transforming
lives through research.
Workforce Safety
School Partner: William Floyd High School
Students learned about the importance of a safe
working environment and the impact of injuries
on the workforce. They spoke to many healthcare
professionals about career paths ranging from
RNs and PT/OTs to safety professionals and
workers compensation specialists. Students had
hands-on sessions using specialized equipment
for monitoring chemical exposures. They also
had an interactive session on the safe patient
handling bus.
School Partner: W.T. Clarke High School
Throughout the morning, a variety of counselors
engaged the students in a group setting. A
movement therapist demonstrated movement
therapy, an art therapist held an art therapy
session and the vocational counselor had each
student take a career interest test.
