City of Rocks State Park: This desert park preserves interesting geologic formations and a rather rare (these days) flora habitat - a ciénaga. W. W. Holland (2003-2005),
Kenneth D. Heil (1998-2012), W. R. Norris (2007-2018), J. Kirker (2007), and D. E. Crosley (2009) are some of the numerous people who have collected plants at this site.
Fluorite Ridge/Pony Hills: Along with Frying Pan Canyon, this site hosts some of the best petroglyphs in southern New Mexico. H. J. Dittmer collected plant specimens at this site.
Frying Pan Canyon, Cooke’s
Spring, Massacre Pass: This area is steeped in history with the pass and Cooke’s Spring being the anchors for most of the early travel in this area. Jack Carter (1991-2009) collected here.
Cooke’s Peak: J. T. Columbus (1987), S. Munoz (1987), and J. P. Hubbard (1978-1980) are some of the individuals who collected specimens in this area.
