5.2 Preservation of Life
Preserving life (hifz an-nafs) concerns the preservation of dignity, brotherhood, social equity,
justice, safety, property, good governance, and the reduction of poverty, meeting work demands, fair
distribution of wealth and income, marriage and stable family life, social unity, reduction of crime
rate as well as peace and stability.
The government has the responsibility to avoid conflicts and bloodsheds. If people’s lives are not
protected, the country will collapse and descend into chaos.
