One of the most signifcant application feld of Aquaphotomics is diagnostics – it provides an opportunity to monitor health status of biological organisms in real time and non-destructively and diagnose the occurrence of physiological changes or disease. For example, Aquaphotomics was successfully applied as a simple rapid and non- destructive method for detection of soybean mosaic viral infection33. The very foundations of Aquaphotomics were built of the applications of spectroscopy in diagnostics of mastitis in dairy cows based on spectra of milk, blood and urine as well as studies of milk quality control 12,37,41–43. These initial studies found that the status of water in body fuids, such as milk or urine is highly related to the physiology which provided the backbone for further diagnostic studies and opened a new venue for abnormality diagnosis. For the frst time, water spectral pattern was recognized as a biomarker44.
