At the very outset, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt Sharadiya
wishes to you all! Durga Puja, the feeling of its arrival itself is so enlivening...eagerly we all
wait for the season of autumn to come.
The autumnal celebration of Goddess Durga epitomizes the victory of good over evil. More
than a festival celebrating the victory of Durga over the evil demon Mahishasura, Durga Puja
is a celebration of life, culture, love and tradition. This Sharadiya puja spreads the message of
harmony and unity among us by creating a common space for all to get together and
participate in the festivities irrespective of their class, caste and gender. It is a festival that
unites our minds unleashing all sense of antipathy.
Originating in ancient period of history, the collective celebration of Durga Puja as Sarbojanin
Durga Puja had its origin in Bengal from where it has spread to the other parts of the country
and across the globe. This indicates the great bearing this festival has in our lives; the powerful
presence of the Shakti cult everywhere.
We, the residents of Deeshari Megacity have once again come together to celebrate Durga
Puja for the third year running, and its message of good over evil, peace and unity amongst
mankind. These celebrations enrich all our lives, both young and old, and serve to maintain
further our Bengali cultural heritage.
Our appreciation and thanks go to the numerous public dignitaries who endorse our Puja
through their messages of support. We convey our gratitude to the Sonarpur Police Station
for their continuous help and support. Our thanks go to Sonarpur Fire Brigade and WBSEB in
providing a safe and illuminated ambience to organize the Puja. Last but not the least we
would like to thank Deeshari management for their co-operation with us. As always, the Puja
would not be possible without the tireless efforts of the residents of Deeshari Megacity.
