Parenteral Route of administration
Injections
Injection which should be sterile and are used in the following:
1. Drugs ineffective by other routes.
2. Drugs producing irritation.
3. Emergencies and to increase blood level rapidly.
Injections may be in the following sites:
a. Intradermal e.g., sensitivity tests and vaccination.
b. Subcutaneous: more rapid and complete than oral and is suitable
for non-irritant drugs.
