Page 24 - The Gospel Truth About Death and Dying_Neat
P. 24
We are born by God, like Adam in the Garden. And we are
begotten, or born again, by the gospel. Thus, the gospel should
be our native tongue and we should all ‘say the same thing.’
Teachers who are ‘instructors in Christ’ talk about RULES.
Fathers of the gospel talk about RELATIONSHIP.
This is what Paul says in Romans 8:2: “The law of the spirit of life
in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.’
When it comes to the subject of death and dying, living by RULES
can be quite troubling! I’m a lawyer and a licensed counselor
with NCCA (National Christian Counselors Association).
So I have dealt with dying people in both capacities.
Unbelievers v. Believers
Those who do not know God, through the finished work of his Son
Jesus, are usually filled with fear. Their thoughts are negative.
But many Christians aren’t a whole lot better off. This is because
they have lived their lives in religious rules — not in the gospel.
They’ve listened to ‘Instructors,’ not ‘Fathers of the Gospel.’
