Adam and Eve only had one rule in the Garden and they could
not live by just one rule either.
Paul makes a very interesting statement in I Corinthians 1:10. He
says we should all ‘say the same thing.’
Denominations and churches today are evidence of the fact that
we don’t all say the same thing. If you view denominational
Christianity for what it is, it’s like ‘The SECOND Tower of Babel!’
There is little or no gospel truth, and a constant ‘babbling’ over
religious things, as Paul says.
How can we all ‘say the same thing’? The only way I know to do
this is when we all talk speak gospel truth, and the gospel only.
The gospel is all about GOD — what he has done, and who we
are because of what he has done.
When this is the subject, we CAN all say the same thing.
Instead, most of Christianity focuses on RULES! The focus is not
RELATIONSHIP, which is the gospel!
We usually see this in the terms of ‘Do’s and Don’ts.’
A preacher’s message might be: “DO attend church, read the
Bible, pray, have quiet time, serve in some way, attend small
group, and give lots of money.”
Or it might be: “DON’T lie, cuss, cheat, steal, commit adultery,
yell at your spouse, kick the cat, or be a brat.”
Of course, if you change churches, rules can change according to
the culture of the church.
