I was troubled by what I was seeing.
It was like the Holy Spirit was nowhere in this place. The service
was so exciting it was mesmerizing and even intoxicating. Yet it
was all human effort. It was like God didn’t even exist.
I cried out: “God, where are you? Holy Spirit, I don’t sense your
presence. Jesus, it is as though you never even lived. It is so
spiritually cold and clammy in this place — while at the same
time I’m so hot I feel as if I’m going to pass out.”
Then I realized that what I was seeing
was a vision of hell.
Can you imagine having to worship and praise God most of the
day, every day, for ALL eternity? Can you imagine that, even
with all of your desperate longing, you would NEVER be able to
make contact with Him?
I don’t know about you, but I cannot possibly
begin to imagine a more terrible hell.
I do not know if this was a literal vision of hell or not.
Do any of us know when we have a sense of something, or seem
to be having a vision of something. None of us knows for sure –
and especially not about hell. None of us have seen the place.
Again, the Bible speaks of heat, and fire, and brimstone. But are
these literal, — or are they figurative? I don’t know. I don’t think
you know either.
