The Council shall consist of a maximum of 20 members with the majority being parent members to a maximum of fifteen (15) parent members. At a minimum, the Council will have seven (7) members as follows: four (4) parents, two (2) staff and one (1) Principal or designate.
Each council member is elected to a one year term beginning in October and ending the following September.
Executive Members of Council
Co-Chairs – must be voting members of Council elect parent members
Treasurer – elected for a one-year term, if re-elected for subsequent terms, may serve a total of 3 years in this role.
Secretary – usually a parent member of Council
Council General membership
Parent Members:
A person is qualified to be a parent member of council if he/she has a child(ren) enrolled in the school. A board employee is eligible to be a parent member of council as long as this person is not employed at Boyne Public School and discloses their employment with the board. Parent members of council must hold the majority vote.
Community Representative:
Council may appoint One (1) community representative. The community member must not have children attending the school. This individual(s) may live in the community or may work in the community or both and he or she must be knowledgeable about the community. The community representative(s) is a voting member of Council.
Teacher Representative:
The teaching staff as their voting member of the Council chooses this person.
Non-teaching Representative:
The principal selects the non-teaching representative as a voting member of Council. Non-teaching staff eligible for this appointment includes the school secretaries, educational assistants, and custodians.
Principal or Designate:
The school principal is a non-voting member of the Council and participates in all meetings. The Principal may designate the Vice Principal to attend Council meetings and act on his/her behalf.
