 The Council may establish committees for specific or general purposes, as it deems necessary to carry out the work of council. The committees may include but are not limited to the following:
 Literacy
 Health and Safety
 Communication
 Community Outreach/Parent Engagement
 Education Advisory
Every committee must consist on one (1) or more Council members and may include additional support from non-council parent volunteers. The committee chair will report on a regular basis to Council.
Committee reports are sent to Council members five days before the Council meeting. The council meeting will allow for questions and clarification of the Committee Chair’s report only.
Committee Duties (Examples)
a) communication
a. ensure parents are kept informed
b. council members and contact information
c. constitution and by-laws
d. delegations on behalf of Boyne PS to HDSB
e. creating documents on behalf of Boyne School Council
f. council meeting dates and locations
g. minutes of council meetings
b) Health and Safety
a. Organize and support programs leading to greater safety for students, e.g.
Active & Safe Routes to Schools, etc.
b. Investigate and recommend to council strategies for making the school
environment safer for students.
c) Education Advisory
a. Facilitate the development of positions on a variety of system-wide topics
b. Provide a link between the Board and school community
c. Provide links between the school council and other organizations with an
interest in education.
d) Community Outreach/Parent Engagement
a. Encourage parent participation in the school
b. Initiate programs of interest to parents
c. Develop in cooperation with school staff, community programs, e.g.
clean-up programs, food drives, welcoming new families, etc.
