WHAT DO WE SUGGEST?
This proposal starts with the introduction of a carbon dioxide tax
on transport. All modes of transport have to be built so they can be
activated with a special card. This card registers the emissions and
these emissions are consequently taxed. The higher the emissions
count, the more you pay. However, if the proposal only consisted
of this idea, it would be seen as a divisive measure measure which
only aims to bully car owners. We want to make sure that the
alternatives to the private car are as benefi cial as possible.
The company car is to be abolished and the money
which becomes available, will be used to expand public
transport and making it cheaper. Company have been
royally subsidised, while cuts have been made in public
transport year after year. This has to be the other way
around. Sustainable and accessible transportation
should be prioritised.
Cities will need to change as well to give maximum space
and safety to public transport, cyclists and pedestrians.
Infrastructure needs to be adapted if you want to change
the mentality. Separate lanes for buses and trams, more
space for cyclists, cycle bridges and tunnels,... cities can
change in other ways as well.
