On October 24 , the County of Monterey hosted its 2 Interactive Workplace Tour and Career Exploration
Fair with students from the Salinas Unified High School District.

The County of Monterey recently hosted its 2 Interactive Workplace Tour and Career Exploration Fair on
October 24, 2023. The event was attended by over 125 students from Alisal, Everett Alvarez, North Salinas,
Rancho San Juan, Salinas, and El Puente high schools. These high school students had the opportunity to meet
with County professionals and learn more about how these professionals serve the community. The day began
with a speech from each member of the Board of Supervisors, followed by students attending one of the 2-
hour interactive workplace tours in the morning. These tours were hosted by the District Attorney, Public
Defender, Social Services, Elections, Health, and Natividad. Please take a look at the pictures below to see the
engaged students during the event.

In the afternoon, SUHSD students attended a Career Exploration Fair also hosted by the County. The students
rotated through 15-minute presentations by Child Support Services, Information Technology, Library, Sheriff-
Coroner, and Treasurer-Tax Collector.

The Human Resources Department is dedicated to empowering our county’s youth and shaping the future
workforce. We are thrilled to continue collaborating with other local high school districts in organizing future
additional career fair events, providing invaluable opportunities for students to explore their potential and
pursue their dreams.
