Compound (Cd)
A compound sentence contains two or more independent clauses with no dependent clause.
2 + 0 = compound (Cd)

Complex (Cx)
A complex sentence contains only one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses.
1 + 1 (or more) = complex (Cx)

Compound-Complex (Cd-Cx)
A compound-complex sentence contains two or more independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses.
2 (or more) + 1 (or more) = compound-complex (Cd-Cx)
