Let’s get Personal…
When God call us to leadership the way will not always be smooth or easy. David was anointed over a
decade before he became king. Others knew that he was going to be king, yet they still resisted and
opposed him. Often as leaders we know God is growing up leaders around us. Yet instead of promoting
and shaping them, we oppose them for fear of losing our own influence. The truth is, when you lift up
and give the platform to the next generation, you are seen as their mentor. Their victories become
yours. In other words, you win when they do. What would it have looked like if Saul had taken David in
and groomed him to be the next king? Saul would not have died as a failure; he would have been seen
as the king who raised up the great king. This week examine your leadership development plan. Do you
even have one? Who are you mentoring to be the next leader of God’s people? If you don’t know and
have no plan, it’s time to start looking. God calls you to disciple others to take the church forward after
you.
