Our Goal in teaching you Research…

If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.

If you teach him how to fish, you feed him for _a lifetime.

“To Begin with the end in mind means to start with a clear understanding of your destination. It means to know
where you're going so that you better understand where you are now so that the steps you take are always in the
              right direction.”

              What is Research?

According to Nancy Jean Vyhmeister, research is defined as:

A method of study that, through careful investigation of all evidence bearing on a definable
                                                1
              problem, arrives at a solution.

              Four-part definition of research
              1. Systematic search Entails the development of principles or rules which should govern our research.
              2. Adequate Information to reach—Reputable and credible resources are required here.
              3. objective Knowledge—Our endeavors should be chiefly focused on the factual resources. This entails the
exercise of our prior knowledge concerning the subject under research.
              4. Specific Topic—Since research involves a rigorous process of study, focus on a single problem for solution
                  should be our overriding goal.
                                             2

              Why is Research so Important?

According to Vyhmeister, research is essential because of the rationales below:

              1. It teaches one to recognize the problem and solve it
              2. It helps one to learn how to find answers
                                                       3

Research requires you to develop a subject by drawing on outside resources not just what you already know.
