Qatari to provide comments on the new IGA template, as
this will help Malaysia to gauge the level of Qatar’s
commitment in IGA.
Malaysia received a Diplomatic Note from the Embassy of
Qatar dated 14 June 2019, in which Qatar proposed to
have the next round of negotiation either from 1-2 July
2019 or 3-4 September 2019 to discuss the new template
of the Agreement that Malaysia conveyed to Qatar in June
2018.
However, due to the development on Malaysia’s position
with regard to ISDS, MITI is in the midst of securing new
mandate on investment-related undertaking in
international trade agreement. MITI will resume the
negotiation once there is a clear mandate on ISDS.
