and the Agreement on Trade Cooperation on 20
May 2009 ;
ii. agreed to work towards completing the
Encouragement and Protection of Investment
Agreement;
iii. Malaysian side welcomed Qatari investment in
the field of tourism, hospitality, finance, real
estate and industries;
iv. Qatari companies were invited to explore the
opportunities in Malaysia's new development
corridors; and
v. Malaysian side welcomed Qatari businessmen
to use Malaysia as a distribution centre for their
products in ASEAN and the greater East Asian
Region.
b. Construction and Consultancy Services
i. Qatari side agreed to strengthen cooperation
and provide assistance to Malaysian
construction, engineering and consulting
companies to operate in the State of Qatar in
the infrastructure projects; and
ii. Malaysia’s offer of expertise in urban
transportation system and request for an
opportunity to present the offer to Qatari
authorities concerned.
c. Industry
i. two sides stressed the importance of bilateral
cooperation between the Malaysian and the
Qatari organization for the development of small
and medium-sized industries;
ii. agreed to Malaysia's proposal to discuss
opportunities for cooperation in mutually
beneficial areas especially in Halal food industry
