policy.

 MITI will obtain cabinet’s decision on the Investor-state
dispute settlement (ISDS) clause in the IGA proposed by
Malaysia to other countries.

 Qatar will send advance technical team to Malaysia to
further discuss on the investment and reaffirms that the
CEO of QIA will be visiting Malaysia in March to have
more fruitful discussion. H.E Fahad also informed that
Qatar’s current investment priority is in the areas of
infrastructure i.e hotels, shopping malls,metro and new
city development.

 Matrade will organise a trade mission to Qatar in April
2019 in conjuction with the Project Qatar Event.

 Qatar suggested that Malaysia could leverage more
investment in the medical tourism as Malaysia offers a
good medical tourism services to the foreigners.

 Malaysia should be a pioneer in education for Qatari
student as Malaysia has numbers of higher education
institutions. Notwithstanding, Malaysia needs to consider
mechanisms to attract more Qatari students as there are
only few numbers of them in Malaysia.

EMIR QATAR OFFICIAL WORKING VISIT TO MALAYSIA, 5-7

 The visit marked the first official meeting between HH
Sheikh Tamim Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar and
Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad since the
change of Malaysian leadership in May 2018.
