Dr. Reyes Garcia
The University of Sheffield

Reyes Garcia is a Senior Research Scientist at the Dept. of
Civil and Structural Engineering of The University of
Sheffield (UK). He received his Civil Engineering degree
from the University of Michoacan (Mexico), his MSc from
ROSE School (Italy) and University “Joseph Fourier” of
Grenoble I (France), and his PhD from The University of
Sheffield (UK). Reyes has 16 years of research/consultancy
experience in earthquake engineering, structural
concrete & FRP composites for construction, where he has
published over 40 articles and papers. He is a member of
the UK TG for Eurocode 8-3, the fib TG 5.1 “FRP
Reinforcement for Concrete Structures”, and of COST
Action TU1207 “Next Generation Guidelines for Composite
Reinforcements”.

Dr Reyes is also the Technical Coordinator of the €4.5M EU-
funded Anagennisi project that is developing innovative
solutions to reuse all tyre components in concrete. He is
also co-Investigator in two Newton Fund projects in the
field of seismic risk in Turkey. He is reviewer for national
funding bodies in Latin America and for 15 international
journals. He has been member of Scientific Committees for
international conferences in Mexico, the UK and Europe.
He has published over 50 research papers in refereed
journals and conferences.
