more. Just the young man did not run, for his eyes
were so brimming with tears that he didn't see the
Mammoth coming. What's more, the Goliath stole
up behind him and took him delicately in his grasp,
and put him up into the tree. Furthermore, the tree
broke without a moment's delay into bloom, and the
winged animals came and sang on it, and the young
man extended his two arms and flung them round
the Mammoth's neck, and kissed him. What's more,
different kids, when they saw that the Mammoth
was not evil any more, returned running, and with
them came the Spring. "It is your nursery now, little
kids," said the Goliath, and he took an extraordinary
hatchet and thumped down the divider. Also, when
the general population were going to advertise at
twelve o'clock they found the Mammoth playing
with the kids in the most wonderful greenhouse they
had ever observed.
Throughout the day they played, and at night they
went to the Mammoth to offer him farewell.
