GCTP initiates Collaboration with WHO in response to COVID-19
 A.ALJARWAN, 4th of April 2020
Letter to H. E. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus,
On behalf of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), I would like to second your call to ceasefire amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), is an international platform dedicated for tolerance, spreading peace and noble human objectives. GCTP, declared in 2017 in Malta, is composed of the International Parliament of Tolerance and Peace (IPTP), and the General Assembly. The IPTP includes more than seventy parliamentarians designated by their national parliaments, and tackles current matters that address women and youth, international relations, international law, promoting peace and sustainable development issues.
The General Assembly includes more than fifty universities, CSOs and individuals who are ambitious to make a change by finding creative solutions to some of the biggest environmental, health, social, educational and technological challenges facing humanity and the Roadmap for Tolerance and Peace. The world is threatened by one invisible enemy; all our efforts, and all our battles should be directed to fight COVID-19. Furthermore, we should support and recognize those new fighters on the front line of this battle, the medical staff and researchers, and equip them with medicines, ventilators, and medical equipment as their effective weapons.
We endorse, Your Excellency, your global peace call to put armed conflict on lockdown and express our intent to support your call,
with the full support of our IPTP and our General Assemblymembers.
We are pleased to share that we have recently created the coronavirus taskforce, and we are working hand by hand with each member to fight this enemy by awareness and in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO). It is vital, now, to join forces to stop wars, conflicts, discrimination, and racism, to silence the guns, to help the vulnerable, the disabled and the elderly and to support our new frontline fighters. We should all act with faith, solidarity, tolerance, and wisdom. This is our actual role as tolerance advocators and peace builders. Wishing you all the best and be sure that you have our full support and help.
