Letter from H.E. Gramoz Ruci
I wholeheartedly thank you for your letter dated on 15 April, in which you convey your deep sympathy, sincere solidarity, support for doctors in the front line of the battle, as well as condolences for the loss of human lives from coronavirus, in these difficult times when the people of the entire planet are involved in the fight of saving human lives from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Albanian government and institutions have taken and are implementing strict measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus and save human lives. As a result of these measures and of the support and solidarity of the Albanian citizens, there were no numerous losses of human lives, but the country's economy, like the economy of other countries, has been hit hard.
Albania’s Parliament, government and institutions didn’t stop for a moment their activity to serve the citizens, protect their lives and revive the economy. Parliamentary committees have regularly functioned online, while plenary sessions are taking place with the participation of all the MPs, applying the standards of social distancing and other protective measures.
We, Albanians closely follow the battle of doctors, governments, institutions and peoples against this danger and take joy in the protection and salvation of every human life. Your letter proves that no country is alone in the fight against COVID-19, we have the support and solidarity of all
humanity. We all wholeheartedly wish this evil is stopped as soon as possible and all the people of the world can return to their normal lives and joys.
I consider the establishment of the Task Force of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace as a great support in the fight against coronavirus, a support to the implementation of the pandemic protection measures, in the affected countries and in the global context.
The Albanian Parliament and me personally are very grateful to the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace for donating 10 thousand chirurgical masks, which are a great support for the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals in the front line of the battle against coronavirus. The Albanian people will never forget this support.
I have the pleasure Mr. President, to invite you, once we win the battle against the pandemic, for an official visit to Tirana, at a convenient time for your Excellency.
