Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

In 1Corinthians 13:11 we read the following,

        “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood
as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a
man, put away childish things.” Some people

never seem to make it to manhood or womanhood.
They remain childishly self-centered. Or they never

take the time to understand the things God would
        want them to know.

As a child I was taught that the Catholic Church was the only true Church. I didn’t have any
facts to support that but accepted it as truth. A couple of times I was questioned about my

church compared to the other person’s church who was asking the question. I stood by my
church as the only true church. The proof I chose to support that stand with strangely enough

was the confessional. I told them what a sham it was for other Christians to say they could just
confess to God and not go to a confessional booth to confess to the priest. I did not like the
confessional booth experience at all but I figured that is what made that church stand out as the

        true one.

It was a relief to know the truth about all this. And yet I think there was something about that

experience that taught me something. Confession should not be a sham. It should not be
something we take lightly. Of course we should not confess to a priest, for Christ is our High

Priest, but we surely need to take the issue seriously. Sometimes I think it is easy to take the
attitude that sin is easily forgiven with a quick I’m sorry. A sin is easily forgiven if the confession

        is heartfelt and sincere.

There are so many other childish things I was taught back then. I am so happy for God’s Word
that lets me know the true facts on every subject I could think of. With these facts and God’s

grace we are to grow into full manhood or womanhood. God expects nothing less.
