   Delay: When a delay is needed – let’s say for paint to dry – this symbol indicates the part or product must be placed into storage for a period of time before the next process step starts.
           A Basic Flow Chart
A flow chart is a pictorial representation showing all the steps of a process. Flow charts provide excellent documentation of a particular process or system and can be a useful tool for examining how the various steps within that process or system are related to each other. Flow charts use easily recognizable symbols to represent the type of processing performed at each step. There are more symbols than those in the previous table but these are enough to get you started.
