Cross Boundary Communication Scenarios
1. Youareworkingwiththeteamleadsoftwootherteamsonanimportantinitiativethat requires the involvement of all three teams. The other two team leads have suggested that you communicate the details of this project and its benefits to their teams as well as yours. How will you communicate this and what is the best format to communicate across the team boundaries?
2. TheNewProductDevelopmentandMarketingteamsarestrugglingwithdifferent priorities. Marketing is focused on an expedited project for a key customer and New Product Development priorities have them working on something completely different. What needs to be considered when addressing differing departmental goals? How can you ensure you address the different communication styles?
3. AstheLeadHandfortheafternoonshift,youoftenarriveatworkandfindequipment out of place. Sometimes you are informed of problems that occurred on the day shift but the communication is irregular. How will you communicate your concerns and priorities? What communication formats can you use to ensure effective cross-shift communication and follow up on improvement actions?
4. Youhaveidentifiedwhatyoufeelisaninnovativeandeffectivecommunicationtool.It will require commitment from various departments and the willingness to change. You are working in an organization with a very traditional, authoritative culture where the average years of service is 20 years. How will you gain support for this initiative across all functions? What specific language techniques might be applicable in this situation?
