PATTERSON

By Pat Patterson, Director of
Services Marketing for Avaya

H
ave IT managers lost their minds? Or are
they only using half their brains? And if so,
which side are they using now? Which side
may they be using more in 2015 and beyond? he answer may surprise. In what some might
call the tale of two brains, IT managers are
increasingly moving from the let side of their
brain to the right. What do we mean by that?
According to Psychology Today, the theory
of let-brain or right-brain dominance suggests
each side of the brain controls a diferent type of
thinking. According to Psychology Today, “For
example, a person who is “let-brained” is oten
said to be more logical, analytical, and objective,
while a person who is “right-brained” is said to
be more intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective.”
here’s no denying that many IT managers
are presumed to be more let-brained due to the
types of jobs they have traditionally gravitated to.

Leadership Battle

Becoming a Two-

Horse Race

New Q3 data from Synergy Research Group
shows that Cisco has now strengthened
its leadership of the cloud infrastructure
equipment market and achieved a record
high worldwide market share of 15%. HP
increased its market share to almost 13% in
Q3 and continues to battle Cisco for cloud
infrastructure leadership.
Meanwhile Microsot took over the number
three ranking from IBM, whose standing has
been impacted by the impending sale of its x86 product line to Lenovo -- as part of the
inalized deal, afected business units started
transitioning over to Lenovo ater the close of
Q3.
Total Q3 cloud infrastructure equipment
revenues, including both hardware and
sotware, were well over $12 billion, having
grown by 10% year on year.
