4 ADVANTAGES OF PI OVER LASIK
What is Lasik?
Lasik invented in the previous century is very popular today. It has
liberated millions from the bondage of visual crutches of glasses and
contact lenses. Lasik is the reshaping of the cornea using a cool beam
of the laser to eliminate the imperfections of the eye: nearsightedness,
farsightedness and even astigmatism. This quick procedure is
performed in a clean Lasik suite. Healing is fast and touch up rate is
low. Experience has shown that it is best suited for the age group 18
to 45, where vision is stable.
Shortcomings of Lasik
Lasik can deliver only one focus; distance, middle, or near. In
young people, the eyes are set for distance and they can accommodate
or change the power of their eye to see for middle and near. They are
also able to overcome less than perfect results by employing their eye
muscles. In people older than 45, who suffer from presbyopia, if the
eyes are set for distance they cannot see the other two zones (middle
and near). With age the need for glasses increases even more. Around
45 to 50 they may only need near vision readers. Later they require
glasses for computers and phones. Around sixty as lens undergo
changes and the eye muscles are inept at overcoming aberrations they
may even want distance glasses.
People who desire to be free of glasses want quality vision at all
distances and are not satisfied with Lasik results. Sometimes, blended
