Pi in eye
What are my options?
1. Glasses
2. Contact Lenses
3. Lasik
4. Prelex
5. Stop driving, reading or playing
Glasses:
A person above 50 has the choice of wearing reading glasses or
bifocals. If they were nearsighted or farsighted they would need to
wear bifocals or progressives. Keep in mind; glasses are the oldest
technology available. Even Benjamin Franklin wore them. Hence,
they start cheap, but modern, more fashionable ones, may cost
upwards of a thousand dollars. The more features on the glasses the
more pricey they get.
Progressives therefore would be more expensive than single focus
glasses. Adding features such as anti glare and transitional color can
further raise the price. If you go for a designer frame you could be
burning a hole in your pocket.
The Disadvantages of Glasses:
1. Causes marks on the temple and nose
2. May fog up in rain or smoky conditions
3. Heavy use may cause discomfort
4. Can get scratched
5. They sit at a distance from the eye; which causes optical
aberrations. The higher the prescription the more
aberrations.
6. Exact refraction is built on center of lens People with
astigmatism need to see through the center of the glasses
for clear vision. As they look away from the center they get
distorted or blurry images due to the prismatic effect
7. Problem if the two eyes are not symmetrical. One cannot
tolerate a difference more than two diopters between the
eyes.
8. May need separate glasses for distance and near
9. Need to spend money every year, recurring investment
