Th e project called for a six-story addition to be constructed over an
existing surface parking area on the west side of the Tampa General
Hospital campus. Work included an addition of approximately 380,000-
SF to provide a new emergency department with Level 1 trauma center
and additional operating rooms, 13 cath labs, a cardiovascular center,
a women’s center for labor, delivery and LDR operating rooms and a
new intensive care suite. Th e completed expansion off ers a striking new
facade facing the prestigious Bayshore Boulevard and downtown Tampa.
Th e 80,000-SF Cardiovascular Center at Tampa General Hospital
included: a state-of-the-art cardio imaging suite comprised of (13) cath
labs, CT suites and MRI capabilities. Th e cardiovascular center was
built to support the hospital’s CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
