Phase 1 involved the construction of the new 40,000-SF central energy
plant. Phase 2 included construction of the new 220,000-SF, ten-story
patient tower and renovations to 98,000-SF of existing space. Connectivity
to the other sections of the hospital was accomplished by a series of
connector bridges totaling 85,000-SF.

Th e patient bed tower houses expanded services for pediatrics, labor
and delivery, orthopedics, cardiology, women’s services, infant care, an
expanded NICU, 191 new private beds, and additional isolation rooms to
enhance infection control measures and oncology services. Also included
in the project were (4) new Operating Rooms (built over existing spaces
in the hospital) and the renovation of existing Operating Rooms inside
the original hospital. Th e replacement of existing MRI equipment and
installation of new equipment was also included in the scope, as well as
new Central Sterile and Sterile Supply areas.
