Regional busing provides new opportuni es
Thanks to a new regional busing program, Brevard Public Schools’ students will have the opportunity to a end educa onal programs outside of their zoned area beginning next school year.
Equity, Innova on and Choice Assistant Superintendent Stephanie Archer said, “Regional busing provides
access to programs that perhaps were unavailable to students where transporta on was a barrier. Now, the opportuni es exist for all students.”
The district provides more than 54 Educa onal Program Op ons (EPO) including all choice and magnet schools,
Interna onal Programs (IB and Cambridge), academies and Career and Technology Educa on (CTE) programs. Students may apply to any program in the district regardless of loca on. They must be accepted to their desired program in order to use regional busing.
It’s an cipated that this transporta on service will be able to accommodate more than 2,500 students, based on previous district experiences. Bus stop loca ons and routes are s ll being nalized. The commute mes will vary based on the number of stops along the route and distance to each des na on.
