1936 - El Ministerio de la Guerra decide incautar el edi cio del Palace para instalar el Hospital Mi- litar. Se acondiciona, en la planta baja, el Depar- tamento de Cirugía, ubicando bajo la cúpula un quirófano de emergencia para utilizarlo durante los cortes de energía, y aprovechar así la magní- ca luz natural que atraviesa cada día el cristal emplomado. En las otras plantas se concentra- ron 800 camas.

Postguerra - El Bar del Palace se convierte en el punto de encuentro de Madrid.
Años 50 - Llegan al Palace las grandes guras norteamericanas, Tyrone Power, Edward G. Rob- inson, Sir Carol Reed y George Sanders.
1954 - Primera estancia de Ernest Hemingway.

1936 - The Ministry of War decides to appropri- ate the building of the Palace to install a military hospital there. The ground oor is remodeled, the operating room is located under the glass dome, an emergency operating room set up there in case of power outages, taking advantage of the magni cent natural lighting through the stained glass. The other oors are used to house 800 beds.
