At the time of being admitted as a member of the medical profession:
I solemnly pledge to dedicate my life to serving others in all matters pertaining to securing the physical and emotional wellbeing of those who trust me with their consultation.
I will treat my peers and my teachers with the respect that is their due, and always strive for the betterment of the establishment I am a part of.
I will practice my profession with integrity and justice – and never with conflicts of interest or other actions of self-interest.
I will keep updated with the newest treatments so that my patients receive care that is in line with current standards of practice.
I will never divulge information that the patient has revealed to me, unless it involves the safety of others. I will be a sentinel for the wellbeing of those around me, honoring the traditions of the medical profession in both myself and my peers, and speak up when necessary.
I will treat each patient fairly and with the utmost respect for human life.
I will not be biased towards a patient based on their race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, disability, age, political affiliation, socio-economic status, or religious belief
I will always only provide care in situations where a patient’s benefits outweighs their risks.
I will use my medical knowledge and status to improve the health of the community I operate in as a physician.
In certain exceptions where the greater public safety is at risk or where a patient’s health runs secondary to their belief systems, I will not interfere with my own biases in the clinical decision.
I make these promises solemnly, freely and upon my honor.
