As a member of the profession of medicine,
I do solemnly swear to serve mankind
In the realms of physical health, mental wellness, and social justice
With compassion,
Without judgement,
Using evidenced based principles aligned with the patient’s own values.
I shall put the patient’s best interest before my own.
I shall use the privileges and honors of the profession responsibly.
I will practice the art of medicine
In such a way that communities heal from disparity
And patients are empowered to take responsibility for their health.
I will advocate for my patients and connect them with resources.
I will keep up to date with the latest advances in technology
But remain dedicated to the physician patient relationship.
I will heal, though I may not cure.
May I care for myself adequately so that I may care for others.
May I always make ethical choices and respect the choices of my patients. All of these things I solemnly swear,
As I pledge my life to serve others using the art that is
