 Thomas Newlin
As a member of the medical profession and humanity: I pledge to dedicate my life to the service of humanity; I will put my patient above anything else;
I will respect my patient’s autonomy;
I will maintain respect for human life;
I will practice my profession at the highest of my abilities and use my knowledge to tend to the health and well-being of my patient;
I will not let technology interfere with my relationships with my patient;
I will keep the secrets that are confided in me, even after the patient has died;
I will respect my team members and give each the chance to prove their abilities;
I will not permit considerations of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political affiliation, race, sexual orientation, social standing, or any other factor to intervene between my duty and my patient;
I will not use my medical knowledge to violate human rights and civil liberties, even under threat.1
