Claudia Trilles
I swear to the medical profession, to fulfill this oath to my highest capability:
I promise to dedicate my life to the improvement and preservation of health by serving humanity— regardless of who, where, and why. When I am called to serve, I will serve. I promise to uphold the universal truth to which all patients are entitled their right to enjoy the highest level of health.
The holistic health of my patients will always be my first concern; I will uphold mental and social well- being of patients as essential to their care as physical health. I will likewise remember that compassion, empathy, and respect are as indispensable to humane care as my expertise of medical knowledge. I promise to intervene through prevention and treatment of disease, and empower patients to participate in their health through invitation and education. With this invitation, I promise to respect patient autonomy and remain loyal to patient confidentiality and privacy.
Throughout my career I will remain humble. When the time comes, I will not be ashamed to admit uncertainty or ignorance; nor will I hesitate to seek advice and assistance from my colleagues. If I should ever make a mistake, I promise to uphold patient trust and be forthcoming of my fault. I promise to continue to seek self-improvement and deepen my knowledge long after my training is complete, for this is the dedication our patients deserve.
My final promise, is to myself: I promise to take care of my whole self to the best of my ability as I continue in this life-long journey. I will remember to take care of myself so that I can take care of others with the care they deserve.
