 Natalie Wharton
May I always put the patient’s best interest first before anything else in my practice
I will make time to listen each and every patient no matter what field I go into
I will be just and fair and provide care that is just and fair
I will strive to live a morally upright life and will provide an example to my colleagues
I will care about the small things along with the large things; I will be passionate in my pursuits because there is no place for apathy in my profession
I will treat my patients and my colleagues as equals and I will show them kindness and humor
Allow me to empower my patients to be the best health advocates for themselves through knowledge about their health and bodies
I will be a caring mentor to others following in my footsteps as I have already benefited from the help of mentors
I will take care of myself and try my best to practice what I preach; I will not be a hypocrite
I will not be afraid of emotions and I will cry with my patients if the moment arises; I will not let myself become numb on this journey
I will challenge myself to learn about and understand beliefs different than my own and find commonalities between differing opinions and my own
Help me to learn how share the balance between life and death; allow me to save lives but not to learn to fight death at all costs
I will be confident in my training and not give into unnecessary patient and employer demands
I will be a lifelong learner
Allow me to give myself to medicine and for medicine to give me a life of passion, fulfillment, and meaning
