This variation on the clove hitch (see
page 24), once loaded or otherwise fully
tightened, refuses to come undone.
When fully tightened, it is often easier
to cut off than untie. When used as a
semipermanent binding, the rope or cord
can be trimmed off short on both sides of
the knot.
